Annethia Collins Obituary

Mrs. Annethia Collins, 80, of Huntingdon, Tennessee passed away Wednesday at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00PM Tuesday March 26, 2024 in the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Humbles Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Dilday-Carter Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00AM until service time at 12:00PM.

Annethia King Collins began her earthly life on November 16,1943 in Huntingdon,TN, born to the late Howard T. King and Mildred King.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age at Third Avenue Baptist Church, later known as Huntingdon Christian Fellowship. During her youth she was a member of the Junior Choir, Junior Usher Board, and Sunshine Band. In later years she was an active member of the Usher Board and worked faithfully in the kitchen until her health started failing.

Annethia received her education at Webb Public Schools in Mckenzie, TN where she received her diploma in May 1962. After graduating high school, she completed Cosmetology School. In 1976, she began pursuing her education to become a nurse at the State Area Vocational-Technical School in Paris, TN. She received certifications including but not limited to Cardiac Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and Radiation Therapy Treatment. She continued her studies at the Western Mental Health Institute and the Cancer Care Center. She also completed the Tennessee Health Care Association’s Nursing Assistant Certification Program at Hillhaven Convalescent Center. Annethia spent over 11 years in the healthcare field until her retirement from Tennessee Developmental Center.

On October 11, 1986, Annethia married the love of her life, Willie Ed Collins, with whom she shared 11 years of marriage and memories until his heavenly transition in July 1997.

Annethia had a vibrant, sweet, loving, and caring personality. She always welcomed others into her home for much needed conversations or a place to stay. She always tried her best to do for others and give back whenever she could.

Annethia Collins was preceded in death by her son, Russell Pearson, Jr.; sisters, Lucille Vaughn, Wanda Dansby; brothers, Garvin T. King, David Holt, and Marshall Holt; aunt, Versie Lee Hicks; nieces, Clarissa Spicer, Victoria King; nephews, Terry Pearson and Craig Willis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Pappas Pearson, Pietz Pearson (Tamika), Eris Ludean Pearson; grandchildren, Markell McClerkin, Torey Watson, Mariah McClerkin, Joshua Pearson, Maliyah Pearson; sisters, Virginia King, Alfreda Chapel; 5 great grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
