Bradford Arnold Melton

Bradford “Brad” Melton, 75, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Known to many as “Coach,” Brad devoted 33 years to teaching at Buchanan, Puryear, and Henry Schools. As a teacher, coach, and mentor, he impacted countless students with his kindness, humor, and steady encouragement.

He was an avid Henry County High School sports fan and spent time cheering on his favorite teams and driving the football team to road games after his retirement from teaching. 

He shared 56 loving years of marriage with his wife, Frances (Jenie) Melton, a partnership rooted in deep devotion. He was a devoted and exceptionally supportive Daddy to Heather and He was a proud PopPop to Audrey Brinkley and Dean Brinkley, supporting them wholeheartedly in all they did.

Brad is survived by his wife, Frances (Jenie) Melton; his daughter, Heather Brinkley (Kirt); his grandchildren, Audrey and Dean Brinkley; his sister, Kathy Cooper (Sylvain); his nephew, Chris Cooper; his great-nephew, Calvin Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jewell Melton, Sr.; his mother, Margaret Evans; his brother, Jewell Melton, Jr.
